59x40cm

Simon Vazquez’s Take It Easy, Bro presents a figure locked in a quiet, internal breakdown. Dressed in a battered blue blazer, rigid white collar, and red tie, he stares out with three eyes—glazed, unfocused, and slightly misaligned, like marbles lost under a sofa. There’s no comfort here, no invitation—only a leering grin stretched too wide and a tension that hums just beneath the skin.

The figure reads like a bureaucratic ghost or a fallen holy man—his third eye offering no clarity, only deeper confusion. There’s something of the dystopian Buddha in him: a hollow symbol of enlightenment repurposed by a collapsing world. His oversized hands hover with a vague menace, their scale and posture suggesting control, or maybe desperation. Above his brow, a wisp of hair curls into a perfect question mark, as if even his identity is a riddle without resolve.

Vazquez’s use of a faded, retro comic-book style lends the piece a worn-out, archival feel. The colours are dulled, the surface distressed, as if this character has been passed from hand to hand, like a dirty joke or a cautionary tale. It’s part carnival, part Cold War fever dream.

Created during a brief period of two-dimensional experimentation, this work directly precedes the artist’s move into sculpture and collectible art toys with Base Elements Gallery. You can sense the sculptor’s presence here—in the exaggerated proportions, the symbolic weight, the air of frozen narrative.

Printed as a museum-quality giclée on archival paper, each edition is signed and limited to 10. Take It Easy, Bro is for collectors drawn to the grotesque, the absurd, and the quietly unraveling edges of the human psyche.
